People mostly fail to overcome barriers to achieve their true potential.
Most individuals have goals they would like to accomplish each day, week, month, and year. At some point, they frequently fail to navigate the road leading them to their true potential. They are barely able to overcome the blockers that hold them back.
As a result, they experience unhappiness and frustration.
Then, it sparked the question- how can I create value digitally for people to solve this problem?
Problem Statement
“Goal seeker people find it troublesome to track their goals and identify a blocker associated with a specific goal. They are unaware of the barriers preventing them from being consistent in their goal-achieving journey. When they need to resist, it is hard for them to take action according to the blocker. This lack of guidance makes them feel unfulfilled and desperate for their goal.”
Habit tracking apps are only the results of a system. I need to track my goals.
Hypothesis Statement
“A goal seeker needs an app that allows him/her to track the goals, identify the barriers, learn how to solve them, and grow in the way of reaching that end goal.”
WHITE PAPER RESEARCH
Why do People Fail to Achieve Their True Potential?
According to Reliable Plant, 80% of people don't set goals, and even worse, out of the 20% who set goals, only about 30% succeed. It means that only 6% of overall are successful in their goal-attainment journey. What about the rest of 94% of all people?
As you can see in the graph, 14% of people set a goal but still can not achieve it. When I searched for the reasons behind this failure story, I found many roadblocks people face.
Fear of failure, lack of commitment to the goal, low self-esteem, and procrastination are common traps in this success rate.
What makes people successful?
Research in 2016 supports the idea of how personality qualities indicate success. According to Kendra Cherry's article on Very Well Mind, adults exhibited three key traits not seen in the relatively unsuccessful group: goal orientation, self-confidence, and perseverance. Although IQ can play a role in life success, personality traits remain the determining feature in achieving that success. While intelligence may suggest a potential for success, it doesn't guarantee the desired outcome.
"Fulfilling that potential requires skills, traits, and support that IQ tests alone can't measure."
Elaine Houston’s article on Positive Psychology also supports this finding. She emphasizes some essential skills required for successful goal setting and achievement.
"The good news is they can be learned and developed through practice." - Elaine Houston
After white paper research, I realized that the Right Track app should be created with three pillars of the goal achievement process: skill improvement, self awareness (personality trait), and support when needed.
